Interview with Unzile Acar – Interior Designer of LXT165

What inspired you when designing the LXT165’s interiors, particularly the owner’s suite?

The inspiration came directly from the sea itself — its rhythm, its flow, and its ever-changing movement. We wanted to capture this natural energy and translate it into sculptural elements within the yacht. This is how the “WAVES” concept was born: a language of soft, wave-like forms that travel across wall panels, textiles, and upholstery, creating an atmosphere that is both serene and dynamic. The goal was to make the owner feel a seamless connection with the ocean even while indoors.

What are the standout features of this design? Are there details that make the owner’s cabin unique?

Absolutely. The full-height windows in the owner’s cabin are a signature element — they extend from floor to ceiling and flood the space with natural light. This not only enhances the visual openness but also establishes a direct dialogue with the sea.
We carefully selected light open-grain veneers combined with subtle green tabu accents to create a calming yet luxurious atmosphere. Every panel on board is designed to be removable, which means future refits or upgrades can be performed with minimal disruption. This combination of beauty and practicality ensures the interior stays relevant and elegant for many years.

Where do you think superyacht owners’ expectations are heading in the near future?

Owners today are looking for more flexibility, personalization, and a closer connection to nature. They want spaces that can transform — interiors that can be adapted as their lifestyle changes, whether it’s for a private retreat, family gatherings, or social entertainment. We see a growing demand for multi-functional furniture and layouts that allow interiors to be refreshed without a full rebuild. Owners also appreciate designs that bring the outside in — panoramic windows, opening balconies, and direct access to exterior decks are becoming must-have features.

What are the key trends shaping superyacht interior design right now?

There is a strong move towards open, airy spaces that feel connected to the surroundings. Materials are becoming more sustainable and tactile — clients love to see natural textures like wood grains, leather, and hand-crafted finishes that add depth and warmth.
Another big trend is functional elegance — interiors are no longer just about looking beautiful but also about being easy to live in, maintain, and upgrade. Modular furniture, interchangeable decorative elements, and easily replaceable panels are increasingly requested.
Lastly, technology is seamlessly integrated — from invisible climate control to smart lighting scenes — ensuring the interior remains clutter-free while still delivering the latest in comfort and entertainment.
